The circumstances in Hoddesdon are comparable with many market towns throughout the UK, and this study seeks to highlight the contributory factors.
- Town centre shoppers in Hoddesdon should not be subjected to car parking charges. However, in order to be positive, the proposal is for all
car parks to be subjected to the same terms as those applicable at The Brookfield Centre i.e. 3 hours free parking.
- In this way the town would be given the opportunity of once again competing against other nearby towns and shopping centres which have less
expensive parking facilities.
- No other Sainsbury's superstore in Hertfordshire or nearby in Essex or Enfield charges for car parking provision.
- If Broxbourne Council will not bring in a comparable 3 hour free parking regime in Hoddesdon, then they should introduce charged car parking
at The Brookfield Centre
THESE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF "HODDESDON TOMORROW" AND FORM PART OF THE STRATEGY FOR SAFEGUARDING AND IMPROVING THE WELL BEING OF THE TOWN CENTRE.
